{"id":92,"date":"2013-08-27T15:36:15","date_gmt":"2013-08-27T15:36:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.longfamilydental.com\/?p=92"},"modified":"2013-08-27T15:36:15","modified_gmt":"2013-08-27T15:36:15","slug":"the-effect-of-sugary-drinks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.longfamilydental.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/27\/the-effect-of-sugary-drinks\/","title":{"rendered":"The Effect of Sugary Drinks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here at <strong>Long Family Dental<\/strong>, we have seen several patients this summer with rampant decay.\u00a0 When asking the patients about some of their dietary habits, one common thread is apparent:\u00a0 Sipping on sugary drinks throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>Now, for years most dentists have expressed concerns about too much sugar in a diet and how that can negatively impact the health of teeth.\u00a0 The truth is dentists are not anti-sugar!\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s <em>how<\/em> you consume sugar that has a large impact on your teeth.<\/p>\n<p>Having a soda or Gatorade or energy drink is not the problem.\u00a0 Sipping on it all day long is the problem. If you crave a sugary drink, have one with a meal, or all in one setting, and then stop.\u00a0 It\u2019s having the sugar and acid constantly in the mouth all day, little sips at a time that is wreaking havoc and causing massive decay, in some cases on every tooth!<\/p>\n<p>If you must sip on something all day, make it water!
